cohort description

An Introduction to Continuationism will be an interactive and collaborative cohort designed to inform and ground an eager expectation of the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives and churches. So many leaders believe in the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit as seen in Scripture, but struggle to articulate or practice what that might look like. So we will also discuss practical ways to implement our commitment to continuationism in the life and rhythms of our local churches.

what can i expect?

An Introduction to Continuationism will begin with a survey of the Holy Spirit’s work in the life of the church including the ways we can see the Spirit’s work in every church now.  We will seek to define the work of the Spirit in the broadest possible way, so as to grow in our ability to anticipate, identify and celebrate the many ways the Spirit is already at work among us.

We will also explore the specific gifts of the Holy Spirit listed for us in the New Testament, plus we will explore how these gifts work in the lives of believers and in the life of the church.  We will study the gifts in light of the priorities of the gospel, variety, love, pursuit and edification.

Finally, we will explore ways to take realistic steps towards a more practicing continuationism in your church.  Many church leaders have convictions about and even experiences of the work of the Spirit, but need space to consider how to intentionally turn convictions into practice, even if it’s one step at a time.

The promise, presence, power and the gifts of the Holy Spirit saturate the scriptures and combine to invite an eager expectation for the Spirit’s work in our lives and churches.
